Football - Harlingen South vs. Edinburg North


The cold weather did not stop this heated match-up between the Edinburg North Cougars and the Harlingen South Hawks. A long completion put the Hawks in the scoreboard first, but the Cougars put a good offensive series and setup the running game to even the score. Eventually, the Edinburg North Cougars were too much for the Harlingen South Hawks and took the 39-14 victory to move on to the next playoff round. Congratulations to the Harlingen South Hawks on a great season, and good luck to the Edinburg North Cougars on their playoff run.

Football - Harlingen at McAllen Memorial


After playing several weeks for a playoff spot, the McAllen Memorial Mustangs matched against the Harlingen Cardinals in bi-district play. Right from the get go, the Cardinals established their dominance and showed why they are District Champions. Although the Mustangs showed a few flashes for some moments, the Harlingen Cardinals were too much and convincingly defeated the McAllen Memorial Mustangs 58-20. The Cardinals will face The Sharyland Rattlers next week.

Football - Brownsville RIvera at McHi


The McHi Bulldogs came as the District 31-5A Champions into Friday's game. The Rivera Raiders came in as the underdogs and took advantage of broken plays and turnovers by the McHi Bulldogs. Eventually the Bulldogs took over the lead, but the Rivera Raiders kept on fighting as the game slipped through the McHi Bulldogs' hands with a 33-21 loss to the Raiders.

Football - Weslaco East at Nikki Rowe


With nothing for them to play, the Weslaco East Wildcats and the Nikki Rowe Warriors faced off on Friday Night at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats managed to score and keep the first half from being scoreless. In the second half, several turnovers by the Nikki Rowe Warriors helped the Weslaco East Wildcats put the game away and move on to the playoffs with the 33-7 victory over the Warriors.

Football - PSJA at McAllen Memorial


It was basically a playoff game for the PSJA Bears and the McAllen Memorial Mustangs. The winner would move on to play next week. The PSJA Bears controlled the momentum of the game and scored first after a Mustang fumble in the opening drive. In the second half, the Bears continued to have the momentum until a fumble changed the course of the game. The McAllen Memorial Mustangs defeated the PSJA Bears 38-27 to move on to the playoffs.

Football - Weslaco East at McAllen Memorial


A shootout at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday night. No punters needed! The Weslaco East Wildcats and the McAllen Memorial Mustangs did not disappoint on their match-up. The Mustangs scored first, but the Wildcats answered right back. This pattern went on throughout the game until an uncharacteristic turnover changed things and the Weslaco East Wildcats beat the McAllen Memorial Mustangs by having the ball last. The final score was 63-56 in favor of the Wildcats.

Football - Edinburg HS at Edinburg Economedes


The Edinburg Economedes Jaguars and the Edinburg Bobcats met on Thursday night at Cats Stadium. The Economedes Jaguars got on the scoreboard on a passing play. The Edinburg Bobcats answered back with a touchdown of their own. After a Bobcat fumble, the Economedes Jaguars broke the tie with a long pass to end the half with a 14-7 score. The second half was a scoreless defensive battle where the Bobcats came up short on long drive at the end of the 4th quarter.

Football - La Joya at Edinburg High


The Edinburg Bobcats held the La Joya Coyotes scoreless on Friday night at Cats Stadium. It was not the shutout what created the biggest cheers. Instead, the highlight of the night was the two field goals of 55 yards and 53 yards by the Bobcats' kicker. The final score was 13-0 in favor of the Edinburg Bobcats.

Football - PSJA Memorial at Nikki Rowe


The Nikki Rowe Warriors hosted the PSJA Memorial Wolverines Thursday night at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Warriors open the scoreboard but could not separate themselves from the Wolverines with a comfortable lead. A late turnover by the Nikki Rowe in the red zone gave new hope to PSJA Memorial, but after a big defensive stop, the Wolverines returned the turnover favor and the Warriors walked away with the 28-25 victory in District 31-5A play.

Football - Nikki Rowe at McAllen Memorial


Regulation time was not enough to settle this City of Palms rivalry between the Nikki Rowe Warriors and the McAllen Memorial Mustangs. The running game of the Mustangs was difficult to stop in the beginning of the game, but the Warriors countered that with a solid passing game. A blocked field goal by the Nikki Rowe Warriors sent the game to overtime, but the McAllen Memorial Mustangs forced an interception in the first possession of the extra time. A great play action set the winning touchdown for the Mustangs who took the victory over the Warriors 35-28 in overtime.

Football - Palmview at Edinburg North


The Palmview Lobos faced the undefeated Edinburg North Cougars on Thursday night. The Cougars open the scoreboard and never looked back. The Lobos managed to score a touchdown on a tough Cougar defense during garbage time to break the shutout, but when all was said and done, the Edinburg North Cougars beat the Palmview Lobos 47-7.

Football - Weslaco HS at Nikki Rowe HS


The Weslaco Panthers came to McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium and imposed their will against the Nikki Rowe Warriors. Although the Warriors were short-handed, they came out swinging and took the lead over the Panthers all the way to half-time. In the second half, the Weslaco Panthers dominated the Warriors and eventually took the easy victory with a 47-23 score.

Football - Juarez-Lincoln at Vela


The Juarez-Lincoln Huskies visited the Edinburg Vela Sabercats at Cats Stadium in Edinburg Texas. It was a defensive struggle in the first half. The Huskies managed to score a field-goal while the Sabercats could not capitalize on a couple of turnovers. In the second half, the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies did not get to add to their score, while the Vela Sabercats scored twice to take the victory  14-3.

Football - Weslaco at McAllen Memorial

The McAllen Memorial Mustangs and the Weslaco Panthers have had  some games in previous years full of smack talk and intense showdowns. Unfortunately,this was not the case on Friday night. The Mustangs had a load of turnovers that prevented them from converting on long drives, and the Panthers took advantage of these turnovers by piling points on the scoreboard. The Weslaco Panthers defeated the McAllen Memorial Mustangs convincingly with a 41-14 score.

Football - PSJA at Nikki Rowe

The PSJA Bears showed up undefeated on Thursday's game against the Nikki Rowe Warriors. After a weather delay, the two teams finally got to move the game hype into the field. The PSJA Bears opened the scoreboard by scoring a touchdown in the opening drive, and the Nikki Rowe Warriors closed it by scoring the next thirty three points. The PSJA Bears and the Nikki Rowe Warriors have a 1-1 record in District 31-5A play after the 33-7 Warrior victory over the Bears.

Football - Nikki Rowe at McHi

Nothing like rain to have as the setting for a great city rivalry. It was the Nikki Rowe Warriors' turn to pay a visit to the McHi Bulldogs and their new coaching staff. It did not take long for the Warriors and the Bulldogs to rack up the scoreboard early in the game. The Nikki Rowe Warriors took the lead at the half, but the Bulldogs came out swinging right away to eventually take the lead by converting all their extra points. A big defensive stop by the Warriors in the last minute of the game made things interesting until the last play of the game, but the McHi Bulldogs took home the 42-40 victory over the Warriors.

Football - Edinburg North vs. Brownsville Rivera


Saturday evening was a cruising night for the Edinburg North Cougars as they hosted Brownsville Rivera Raiders. The Cougars scored on their first offensive drive and never looked back. Edinburg North's defense also dominated and caused several turnovers that eventually showed up in the scoreboard. The Edinburg North Cougars cruised to an easy victory over the Rivera Raiders 35-7.

Football - Harlingen South at PSJA Memorial

The rain stopped just in time for kickoff on Friday evening at the PSJA Stadium. The PSJA Memorial Wolverines hosted the Harlingen South Hawks on Week 1. The Harlingen South Hawks opened things up in the scoreboard and managed to score 14 points in less than a minute. The Wolverines could not find an answer throughout the game, and ended the night with no score. The Harlingen South Hawks defeated the PSJA Memorial Wolverines 27-0.

Football - Economedes at McAllen Memorial

A cloudy evening was the setting for a wet but thrilling football game between the Edinburg Economedes Jaguars and the McAllen Memorial Mustangs. The Mustangs hit the big play in their opening drive to gain the early lead, but it did not take long for the Jaguars to score as well and trail the Mustangs after missing the extra point. Both teams exchange scores and defensive stops until the last minute of the game when the Economedes Jaguars took the lead for good and defeated the McAllen Memorial Mustangs 28-21. It was an exciting game to say the least.

Football - Edinburg High at McAllen Memorial

A 54-yard field goal was not enough for the Edinburg Bobcats to defeat the McAllen Memorial Mustangs on Friday night. The Mustangs opened the game with a scoring drive, but turnovers throughout the game kept them from building the lead. The Bobcats moved the ball, but could only walk away with a couple of field goals. When time expired, the Memorial Mustangs defeated the Edinburg Bobcats 7-6 in the first game of the season for these teams.
